You escaped the Library. You survived the Kitchen and the Laboratory. You may even have convinced yourself that the Mad Professor had finally lost control of you.
Then you found the garden.
Horror in the Garden is a major new super expansion for *Horror in the Library*, taking players beyond the walls of the mansion and into a shifting garden trapped between dimensions.
Some parts of the garden are beautiful. Others are deeply unpleasant. Every path may conceal something valuable, something dangerous—or exactly what you need to win.
The new Garden Tiles are double-sided, allowing players to decide which version of each location enters the game.
Turn a tile over and you may summon the influence of the Void, revealing another-dimensional version of the garden. Familiar pathways become distorted, peaceful spaces turn hostile and seemingly dangerous locations may hide powerful rewards.
The decision is yours—but once the Void begins to spread, the garden may not remain under your control.
The garden’s greenhouses contain some of its greatest treasures, but they are also among the most dangerous places to explore.
Players who enter unprepared may quickly regret it. Those who plan carefully, manage their resources and take the risk may escape with significant rewards.
Of course, escaping the greenhouse does not necessarily mean you have escaped the garden.
The Mad Professor has another task for you.
Hidden throughout the garden is his prized flower collection, and he wants you to find the specimens and press them for him. He is extremely fond of pressed flowers.
He is also extremely fond of tormenting players who believe they have finally escaped—only to discover that they remain entirely under his control.
Horror in the Garden introduces a completely new collection of Blessings and Curses.
These work differently from those found in the main board game and the Collector’s Expansion, creating new decisions, risks and opportunities as players explore the garden.
Some may offer exactly the help you need. Others may make the garden considerably worse.
Horror in the Garden is being designed as a super expansion that makes use of components already included with the main *Horror in the Library* game.
It can utilise the existing player boards, Blessing and Curse coins, bags, dice and other core components. This allows us to create a much larger experience while helping to keep production costs—and the eventual price for players—as low as possible.
The expansion can be played as its own complete garden adventure. More daring players will also be able to connect it to their expanding mansion, combining the Garden with the Library, Kitchen, Laboratory and other locations.
How large the mansion becomes is entirely up to you.
We are planning to launch Horror in the Garden through Kickstarter.
Crowdfunding campaigns have become increasingly difficult for small independent creators, so every expression of interest makes a real difference. Pre-order requests, votes, registrations and messages through this website will help us understand how many players want to enter the garden.
Helen and I always love hearing from people who already own *Horror in the Library* and its expansions, as well as those discovering the game for the first time.
Your support helps us continue developing the artwork, testing the new systems and preparing the expansion for production.
Our goal is to have a playable demonstration set of Horror in the Garden ready for SPIEL Essen 2026.
Our stand is booked, development is moving forward and we are looking forward to meeting players, showing you the new Garden Tiles and playing games together.
Will you explore the garden? Or will the garden explore you?
